NFC is looking to hire an employment law Associate for our Chatham, New Jersey office. This position will be filled by a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who excels in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that values top-quality work and positive contributions to the workplace. This particular position is perfect for an employment attorney seeking a non-litigation position or an in-house role, as the position is primarily focused on a wide range of advisory work with limited Litigation work.
Hours: Full-Time (1,800 Billable Hours) – with option to discuss flexibility in hours

Essential Functions:
Applicants must have at least 3 years of substantive employment law experience with a strong interest in providing employment law advice and training to clients and working with the firm’s investigations team.
Primary responsibilities include in servicing the group’s clients, which is dedicated to partnering on employment law matters with NFC’s private sector corporate clients in New Jersey, New York, and remote locations. In addition, this attorney will be part of NFC’s training team providing employment law-related training to NFC clients and NFC’s investigations teams tasked with performing internal investigations and third-party investigations on behalf of the firm’s clients.
Work shall include but not be limited to:
- Research regarding a wide range of employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, hiring, performance management, FMLA/ADA issues, sick leave laws, leave of absence issues, terminations/RIFs, restrictive covenants and COVID-19 guidance and related laws
- Assisting with advising clients on a wide variety of employment issues, including drafting comprehensive emails to clients and delivering advice via phone or virtual platforms
- Document and policy preparation (e.g., Handbooks, Separation Agreements, Restrictive Covenant Agreements, Policies, etc.)
- Assisting with and conducting client training on a wide variety of employment law issues
- Conducting workplace and third-party investigations
- Preparing verbal and written investigation reports
- Assisting with DOL Audits
- Responding to attorney demand letters
- Responding to agency (EEOC, NJDCR) Charges
- Providing overflow assistance to other NFC practice groups, including the Litigation Practice Group, where needed

Salary Range (based on full-time, to be adjusted for less than full-time): Starting at 155k – 180k
The Firm is providing this good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant’s final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant’s skills, experience, and years of practicing employment law.
