NFC is looking to hire a Practice Group Manager in our Litigation department for our Chatham, New Jersey office. This individual will be responsible for assisting with business needs and internal operations, including attorney management, professional development and other responsibilities to support the Department’s goals and work towards the continued success of NFC. The Practice Group Manager is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the Firm’s attorneys and professional staff and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Hours: Monday – Friday (9:00 am – 5:00 pm EST); Firm needs may require some work outside of normal working hours.
Location: Hybrid – The role resides in the Chatham, NJ office and is a full-time job. The person in this role is expected to work on the current hybrid schedule, working in the office two days a week (Wednesday required plus either Tuesday or Thursday). This hybrid schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the Firm.

Reports to: Head of Litigation Department
Essential Functions:
- Manage attorney staffing on litigations, including collecting attorney availability weekly and assigning attorneys to litigation matters based on client needs, experience, rates and preferences.
- Oversee and assist Department Head with attorney utilization, including obtaining and reviewing weekly attorney capacity as reported by attorneys, reviewing weekly and quarterly utilization reports, recommending plan for addressing utilization issues, following up with attorneys on utilization issues.
- Oversee and manage timekeeping issues.
- Prepare and monitor litigation budgets and identify issues to proactively address them.
- Review invoice denials and adjustments and provide information required for appeals.
- Coordinate and calendar meetings for Department Head and Department meetings.
- Assist Department Head with performance reviews, as needed.
- Manage professional development plan for attorneys, including NFC University programming, CLEs, etc.
- Assist with Litigation Team meetings.
- Assist Director of Litigation Support Services with research, selection and management of vendors and technological support services, including court reporting services, electronic discovery vendors, experts, trial technicians, Westlaw and other legal research providers, and AI services.
- Assist in the preparation of responses to RFPs, case bids and new lawsuit alerts.
- Manage new hire process with H.R. including attorney on-boarding.
- Review Law 360 and Daily Decision Alerts and highlight important cases and changes in the law.
- Review non-billable hours report quarterly or more frequent basis and address issues.
- Handling conflict checks and opening new matters.
- Manage client non-billable requests.
- Special projects as assigned by Department Head.
Skills Required:
- Undergraduate degree required; J.D. preferred.
- At least five years of professional services experience; law firm experience required.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with virtual platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom; additional training on such platforms to achieve advanced skills can be provided.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with attorneys and professional staff.

Salary Range: $115k – $125k
The Firm is providing this good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant’s final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant’s skills and experience.
